Hello everyone,
I’m from India & do a lot of charity work. I was contacted recently by a local orphanage about a program they want to use for their kids. They have VB 6, which I know nothing about. I am actually a law student & I know a bit of C++, which is just a hobby of mine. The orphanage thought that I know more about programming & hoped that I could code in VB 6 for them. They are strapped for cash & were wishing that I would do this for free. Now, having disappointed them, I tried looking for a VB programmer who would do this for the kids but have had no luck so far… The orphanage has waited for about a month & we still haven’t got anywhere.

I looked for sites that offer VB code for free but none are specific enough. So, I was hoping that someone out there would help us out. A couple of kids in the orphanage know VB6 & a bit of file handling (which they have started learning since about 2 months). So, we have come to the conclusion that using VB 6 & file handling methods (they don’t have MS Access on their computer), we could all help out the poor kids. That way, the kids will get hands on experience by working with an example of VB code & the program will help their caretakers too.

Basically, they need an application that keeps track of how many games of chess each kid (on the chess team) has won or lost. They don’t have a point system & only keep records of matches that had a result (no draws or ties). The kids have started to deal with a few new concepts & if we could include them in the code, it would be a good learning experience for them. These new concepts are:

Arrays / records,
Data types,
Selection,
Iteration,
Procedures,
Functions,
Searching Techniques,
Files.

Also, an added facility could be of providing a design & documentation of the process model & adding comments to the lines of the code.

Even a short program would be very beneficial to our cause.

We were all excited that we would find a programmer with a compassionate heart to start using the new system before Christmas but the kids were very much disappointed because we didn’t…

Will someone help us out please? Thanks.
