RACEVB6 has been updated to version 4.0:

        Updated many opcodes
   Added new opcodes
   Includes bug fix of 3.9
Added FormMenu to intrinsic control method naming (forgot it in 3.7!)
Added improved error handling for invalid opcodes occurring in unused/incomplete/non-functioning procedures

Get it at RACEVB6.com

Thanks

Note: A minor bug was found in version 3.7.

Please discard it and download 3.8

Thank you

As an FYI, RACEVB6 is now up to version 3.7.  It can be found at the RACEVB6.COM web site.

For those who don't know RACE, it is a VB6 PCode analyzer.

For those who like the bells-and-whistles, here's the new stuff:
Improved declaration delineation and unused API detection
   Updated/corrected many opcodes
   Added new opcodes
   Added intrinsic control methods-by-name

Thanks

All:
The newest version of RACE, a VB6 analyzer, can be found at Racevb6.com.

dim x as double
x = val("&hFFFFFFFF)

X should be 4294967295, but it's calculated as -1.  This is a problem with the HEX function, it won't work over 7FFFFFFF.  Even adding the "&" at the end doesn't force a 32 bit calculation, even if the variable will hold a 64 bit number.

If you feel like sending me a link to that prog, I'd like to test the new version of RACE against it.

Ahh, your posts are always so interesting...so, I went to the URL.  I like it!  Are any of these games reminiscent of Colossal Cavern (Adventure, Zork)?  Then, too, I have to wonder how may gamers today are interested in the old-fashioned stuff, what with all those ultimate video game consoles aroung!

I'd say something like "they bring back memories", but of course I don't want to date myself!

Thanks for that link, it's now in my favorites list.

Edit:

PS.  YES! I found an "adventure" type game.  I will now retire for a few years.....Thanks, Big G

PS: at the risk of showing off my apprenticeship, what is a "wiki", and where do I find it here?

Thanks, and thanks for the tip on the "us" domain.  Fortunately for me, that will, (I hope) go away when the "bigger and better" comes along.

I am really fanatic about parsing the PCode, and I hope that the cohesive file section sparks some thinking about source code recovery; I don't want to be TOO obvious.

Just to make sure I am not misunderstanding you:

"...the part about the latest release that I like the most is the verbose mode for the pcode tokens,..."

The "latest release" that is on the site does NOT give the verbose stuff; that is for soon-to-be released version 3.5, as the splash screens show.
And frankly, I expect by that time to become commercial.  But, we'll see...

Personal message: Keep up the good work; really like this site.

You are one of the lucky ones. Once they found out I had put out the demo source code, they made me upgrade to the exe.

I am hoping that the splash screens on the site show not only what the capabilities of RACE are, but what data is hidden in the exe.

Oh well,

Well, a frown is just a smile turned upside down (yeah, right!)

And I, too, would like the decompiler site to eventually get "un-hacked".

As an FYI, I too have been approached by commercial interests.  In fact, they did not want me to post RACE 3.4, but I persuaded them to let me do it as a bug-fix of 3.3.  Of course, there ARE a few minor upgrades in it.  Anyway, you can check you "raceco.us" if you're interested.  I'm hoping that the splash screens will show people just how much you really can get back from the PCode exe.  But I'll be ^%%*'ed if I'll let them charge more than $30 for it!

(Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.  )

As for the path ahead, I say...bring it on!
