site won't let me log on

i've been having this problem for a few days now, whenever i log in the site freezes. then i try to refresh or go back and it just says 'Failed to connect to the database'
as you can tell, i can sign in to the forums but any other part of the site won't let me.

i just finished a game and wanted to update it on the site but this problem is keeping me from doing so.
could somebody please help or tell me what i'm doing wrong?
